Holiday @ Home Scheme -2025
Dates:
Mid- Winter Holiday @ Home Scheme - 12th and 13th Februrary 2025
Summer Holiday @ Home Scheme - 6th and 7th August 2025
Summary of 2024 Holiday @ Home:
Last year’s Holiday @ Home was a great success, warmly received by participants and volunteers alike. With the support of local organisations, we were able to fund the holiday for 35 guests, who were cared for by 17 local volunteers. The presence and pastoral care of Major Lorraine Chaudry from the Salvation Army, as part of Churches Together, was a blessing during the summer scheme.
Holiday @ Home (9:30 am to 3:30 pm on two days in winter and two days in summer) is a special event for anyone who might benefit from engaging activities and warm company. This includes individuals with mild dementia, mobility, or sensory challenges, as well as those who are active but looking for a few days of fun and fellowship.
Guests are welcome to participate in as many or as few activities as they wish, including:
- Complimentary raffle and bingo
- Games such as dominoes, jigsaws, cards, Scrabble, and Rummikub
- Listening to stories or poetry
- Quizzes and crafts
- "Thought for the Day" reflections
- Reading newspapers or magazines
- Relaxing chats with others
- Foot and hand treatments for relaxation
- Afternoon entertainment on Tuesday and Thursday, featuring singing, film clips, or a professional entertainer
- Wonderful food and refreshments, including a two-course lunch, hot drinks, biscuits, cakes, and sweet treats
Cost:
- £10 per day, or £20 for two days
This small contribution helps offset costs, as the event relies on grants and donations.
