The Friendship Club was formed towards the end of 2010 in recognition of a need in the Town for a meeting place to bring together folk of over 50 years of age for social activity, crafts and knitting, games, chat and recreation on a Saturday afternoon. Many people feel especially lonely at weekends and the Club provides a gathering place for a couple of hours each week from 2 - 4pm.
Although the Club is staffed by Church members, it is secular with no religious input. An open door policy exists where anybody over 50 is free to come along to enjoy a cuppa, biscuit / cake and take part in a multitude of activities provided. A nominal weekly charge of £2 per person offsets the cost of providing refreshments / cakes and goes towards subsidising fish and chips lunches / outings, etc.
The photos show members enjoying one another's company playing a variety of table games.
You are welcome to come along any Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.
