Sandra's Soliloquy

Friday Reflection – 2nd May 20256

Sandra’s Soliloquy

Good morning everyone…

Wow, some sunny hot weather this week. So, here I am sitting in a darkened room with curtains and windows closed, as evidently, that is the best way to keep your place cool. I have to be careful, as extreme temperatures can trigger symptoms in my ME, and I expect there are many others who feel the same.

But what about all those people in war conditions, where their homes and towns have been bombed? I cannot contemplate the horror in Palestine, where there has been no relief allowed in for over a month…no water, food, medicines, anything to help alleviate the awfulness that they have to contend with. They are existing on bomb sites, with no facilities, no hospitals and even medic aids murdered. And for all I read, many countries still supplying arms to Israel. Appalling photos of starving children, news of imprisoned or murdered journalists, do not seem to have any effect on governments and leaders across the world.

What is happening in our World, where such wicked things have taken place, and continue to take place, and leaders of the countries committing these crimes, courted and allowed at World events, and anyone complaining about it, at risk of being imprisoned and deported, as in the new US?

There used to be a slot on a local Radio show, called, ‘Has the world gone mad?’ and I think this daily.

We must not give into fear, and continue in our prayers with hope and expectation that it will improve, things must change. And give thanks for all those who work in these situations, offering support, help and aid, at great risk to themselves.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (ESV)

In the meantime, carrying on with our own lives; for us, enjoying the run of birthdays and yesterday, a lovely outing at a local zoo, only half an hour away. A much more successful time than last year, as I took my mobility scooter and did not moan, having to rest regularly, as I had not appreciated the extent of the site, and only took my walker previously. And my grandson is now a toddler and enjoyed seeing the animals and the playground, and once again, I was reminded how Blessed I am to have this time with him, and watch his progress and development and company.

Dear Lord,

What contrasts in lives across the world. Please help us to remember how Blessed we are daily, even in the small things. This does not stop us from needing support and help at times of illness or sorrow, or even confusion about faith, or life. We see people around us, friends, neighbours, struggling, coming to the end of life and it makes us stop and think. Babies, small children make us remember our own childhood and then our children’s. The circle of life continues, in spite of world events and things out of our control.

Lord, we thank you that we can turn to you at any time, and you will be there. Amen

God Bless everyone, have a great Bank Holiday weekend. Sandra x

When I needed a neighbour were you there?
